You might think that staying looking young takes too much work. That doesn’t have to be the case! There are a few simple lifestyle changes you can make to stay looking younger.
Keep Heat Away From Hair
One key feature to stay looking young is full, vibrant and shiny hair. Using heat on your hair often, like blow-drying on high heat and using a flat iron every day, causes your hair to dull and encourages breakage. Try limiting the amount of heat you use on your hair by air-drying your hair more. If you must use a flat iron, use a heat protector spray before you iron.
Drink More Water
Drinking more water keeps your skin looking plump, supple and youthful. Drinking enough water can also make wrinkles look less noticeable due to the way it plumps your skin. Try to ensure you are drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
Avoid Alcohol
Excessive use of alcohol can cause dehydration, sallow skin, and make it look rough and dry. Stick to healthy drinking limits, no more than one drink a day for women and two for men, and your skin will thank you!
Use Sunscreen
Sun damaged skin ages everyone. Exposure to the sun can cause discoloration and early wrinkles. Make sure you slather on some sunscreen every morning, at least SPF 35, to protect your skin from looking older than it is.
Moisturize
One key to young-looking skin is plump, nourished skin. A great way to achieve this easily is to moisturize, using both a day cream and a night cream, daily. Moisturizers infuse your skin with the moisture, vitamins, and antioxidants it needs to stay young.
Eat Clean
What you eat will impact the way that you look, and a diet high in refined sugars, processed foods and unhealthy fats will reflect that in your appearance. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and fruits daily and avoid overly processed foods.
Get Quality Sleep
When you don’t get enough sleep your cortisol levels, a hormone indicative of stress, rise, you look tired and worn-out and it can cause incremental weight gain. Make sure you are getting a solid 8 hours of sleep every night to appear more youthful and invigorated.
Switch Up Your Makeup Routine
The makeup you use could be aging you. Heavier makeups settle in fine lines on your face, making them look deeper than they are. Switch up your heavier makeup for a lighter matte coverage. Add highlighter to mimic a youthful glow.
Find Your Right Weight
Being too thin for your height can age you. If you are underweight it can cause your face to look sunken visibly aging you. Make sure you are staying within a healthy weight range to stay looking young.
Change The Way You Clean Your Skin
When you wash your face with harsher ingredients, it can cause dryness and damage. Your skins natural oils keep it looking young, and stripping too many of them away can cause you to look older. Switch to alcohol-free, gentle cleansers to stay looking youthful.
Try implementing these easy lifestyle changes and see if it makes a difference!
